State Finder
Name, find and tap all 50 U.S. states on the map.
State Finder is a U.S. map game that starts easy and ends with all 50 states. A state is filled in and the child names it, or a name is given and the child taps the state on the map. The first levels use big, distinctive shapes like Texas, Florida, Michigan and Alaska, so a second grader can get started right away.
The game also teaches the two letter postal codes and zooms in on the small Northeastern states and a group of south-central states, which are hard to tell apart on a full map. Many right answers add the state's capital. Level 6 draws on all 50 states with every kind of question.

How it works
- Level 1 names big, easy states, and level 2 asks the child to tap them.
- Level 3 adds more states, and level 4 switches to two letter codes.
- Level 5 zooms in on crowded areas of the map, and level 6 can ask about any of the 50 states.
- A child who picks the wrong state can simply try again, and the speaker button reads each question aloud.
Best for: A good fit for grades 2 to 8, from a young child's first look at the U.S. map to an older student reviewing before a quiz.
Tip for parents: Have your child find the states where relatives live, then play a round on those. A personal reason to remember a state shape can help it stick.
Questions parents ask
Why are there postal codes in a geography game?
Two letter codes, like TX or NY, appear on mail, packages and forms, and children often mix up codes such as MI and MO. One whole level lets them practice the codes next to the map.
Are Alaska and Hawaii shown to scale?
No. They are drawn smaller than they really are so that they fit on the map, and the game says so after a right answer about them. A globe or atlas is a good way to show how large Alaska is.
Will my child get confused by similar names?
Wrong choices are often picked on purpose from look-alike names, such as the Dakotas, the Carolinas, or Virginia and West Virginia. Seeing them side by side with the map teaches the difference.
